The course is for educators who are looking to inspire their practice, linked to Ofsted’s Common Inspection Framework.

First Steps into Leadership

This course is suitable for educators who are within their first management role or thinking about a role within management.

Delegates will receive:

  • full course hand-outs
  • skills and knowledge audit
  • reflective tasks to complete between each session
  • telephone and email support between sessions
  • reflective journal
  • personal coaching at the end of the training
  • on completion of all tasks, which are personally marked by Laura, a certificate of attendance.

The Training is held over 4 dates, one per month and all delegates must be free to attend all dates in order to complete the course.

Early Years Pedagogy Club

A new online professional development FREE concept.
In short, think book club and then translate to online professional development.

Once a month we’ll read a research paper, journal, blog, article, legislation, guidance or social media content. We may also watch an inspiring video clip, for example

We’ll then come together via a live link, to share our reflections and discuss translations into practice.

The link will always be free and Laura will share it at least one month before to enable participants to read and/or watch.

If participants would like a certificate for their professional development record, the investment will be £3.95 + VAT per certificate.

Early Years link up

The Early Years link up will be a bi-monthly FREE event for anyone who works with children under five and/or their families and/or those who work with those who work with children.

Suggested topics for discussions:
local, national and international news, Early Years News, recruitment, sustainability, funding, Ofsted, EYFS, teaching and learning.

Laura has worked with providers and families within Croydon for over 20 years. More importantly she also lives in Croydon.

My Family Week 2019

Monday 11th – Sunday 17th November 2019

My Family Week is the concept of International Early Years trainer, author and consultant, Laura Henry. Laura has worked with children and their families for three decades. She recently reflected on what do we mean by the term family in the modern sense of the word.

On a personal level, Laura’s parents divorced when she was young and she remembers the stigma attached to belonging to a single parent household. Fast forward 40 years, and although there is less of a stigma, certain types of ‘non-conventional’ families still find themselves less accepted by wider society.

Every family is unique and this uniqueness should be celebrated. With this in mind, Laura created My Family Week 2017, using the characters from her bestselling book, Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran and it was an international success.

In 2018 this week proved just as popular with Early Years Settings, Schools and Organisations joining in and sharing their activities via social media.

Laura now plans to celebrate this special week every year and the dates for 2019 are already set as above.

Laura is delighted to be part of this important Conference organised by the Firm Foundations Team in conjunction with Bath Spa University and REaCH – the Centre for Research in Early Childhood, based at Bath Spa. 

The conference will explore all aspects of best practice in the early years. Keynote speakers and workshop leaders will examine and challenge conceptualisations of early child development. They will draw together policy, research and practice to call for a rounded and holistic approach to young children’s care, learning and development. This conference is designed to be an inclusive practitioner led event, focused on sharing ideas and building supportive networks.
