Knighthood

It was a pleasure to attend the reception at the St Lucian Embassy in London following the investiture of Michael Chastanet, who received his knighthood from HRH Prince of Wales. The reception was held in the presence of the High Commissioner of St Lucia, Mr Guy Myers, and Sir Michael’s son, prime minster of St. Lucia, Allen Chastanet.

Early Years Pedagogy Club

A new online professional development FREE concept.

In short, think book club and then translate to online professional development.

Once a month we’ll read a research paper, journal, blog, article, legislation, guidance or social media content. We may also watch an inspiring video clip, for example.

We’ll then come together on my Facebook page, via a live Facebook post, to share our reflections and discuss translations into practice.

The link will always be free and Laura will share it at least one month before to enable participants to read and/or watch.

If participants would like a certificate for their professional development record, the investment will be £4.95 per certificate.

Date for your diary

The first session will be on Tuesday 5th February at 7pm and Laura will circulate the link for the discussion in the new year.

Research on Families and Early Years

I was delighted to receive an email from a group of students from Antwerp in Belgium earlier this year. They were carrying out research linked to Early Years and families. They wanted to know about my successful My Family Week and to meet with me in London.

Unfortunately, on the date of their visit, I was going to be out of the country and so I put them in touch with Kim Benham, owner and manager of Sparkles and Millie’s Pre-School, in Croydon. Kim’s settings took part in My Family Week last year and were also filmed by the BBC.

Please read Kim’s blog on the students’ visit.

New Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran Book: Twelve and a Half Days of Christmas

We are pleased to announce the long-awaiting second book in Laura’s Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran series based on a pre-school child and her grandmother, showing the special and loving relationship that they have.

In this book, The Twelve and a Half Days of Christmas, Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran talk about, reflect on and plan what they are going to do as they count down the days to Christmas Day. They remind us again about the special bonds that grandparents have with their grandchildren, focusing on the intergenerational and loving relationships that are central to positive community living.

For more information on both of the books, please visit our dedicated webpage

Special Offer! Reduced pricing on the Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran books for My Family Week.

Especially for this celebration week, we have reduced the pricing of both books to £5.99 each.
