Early Years expert, Laura Henry, this week met His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet, during the spiritual leader’s two-day visit to the city of Derry/Londonderry.
As patron of Children in Crossfire, His Holiness was helping to celebrate the charity’s 20th anniversary, marking two decades of its mission to address the impact of poverty on young children. Through working with partner organisations and providing development education, Children in Crossfire has helped to change the lives and outlooks of children in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Ireland.
Children in Crossfire invited Laura to join the celebrations in light of her role as national representative on the World Forum in Early Care and her own work to improve the quality of Early Years education and outcomes for children both here in the UK and overseas.

My Family Week celebrates families of all shapes and sizes, allowing children to tell their own story, about their own family in their own voice.
My Family Week is a reflection on what family means in the modern world and is the brainchild of international Early Years trainer, author and consultant, Laura Henry, who has worked with children and their families for three decades.
My Family Week is celebrating the uniqueness of every family, using the characters from Laura’s popular children’s book series Jo-Jo and Gran-Gran as inspiration.
As part of the week, settings, schools, parents and wider families can take part in a range of activities to help children to tell their own stories.
Stories will be shared and developed online using a variety of social media platforms.

International award-winning Early Years expert, Laura Henry, who was brought up in North Kensington, is using her influence and experience in the childcare industry to coordinate resources to help the Grenfell Crèche and local community, which is now without a base following the fire in Grenfell Tower. This also, extends to supporting the local community.
Laura is acting as the lead to coordinate national support on behalf of Early Years providers.
